"I can’t believe that I just walk a few minutes down the road and can access music of that quality in our little town.

Such a lovely concert last night”.

It is with great sadness that we have learned of the recent death of Sir David Lumsden, a Patron and long term supporter of the Buckingham Summer Festival.

Sir David was celebrated for his work in musical education, most notably at the Royal Academy of Music.

He was born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and was a friend and contemporary of another native of Tyneside, Alan Brook,

who co-founded the Festival.

Amongst his many interests and commitments, he conducted the same Oxford choir as our Artistic Director, Robert Secret.

We were honoured to have Sir David as a Patron and send our condolences to his family and friends.
