Vaughan Williams Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis
Vaughan Williams Oboe Concerto
Samuel Barber Adagio for Strings
Elgar Introduction and Allegro for Strings

The Cathedral-like sonorities of the Tallis Fantasia open the Gala Concert followed by the same composer’s oboe concerto played by Christopher Redgate whose playing was described as "spellbinding" by members of the audience at a concert before Christmas. A brief trip over the water for Samuel Barber’s wonderful Adagio is followed by Elgar’s masterpiece. Whether you admire the virtuosity of the writing or sit imagining the English landscape or just think of a girl singing a beautiful Welsh folk tune, the Introduction and Allegro will inspire you.

CONCERT sponsored by Aylesbury Vale Arts Council and Buckingham Town Council
Price £10 (under 18s £5)
